Jul 22, 2026

Rebar: On July 21, the average price of 20mm Grade III seismic rebar in 31 major cities across China was 3,279 yuan per ton, down 7 yuan per ton from the previous trading day. Market trading sentiment remained subdued during the high-temperature off-season, with traders generally adopting a cautious stance. End-users primarily procured based on demand, showing limited willingness to replenish inventories.

Hot-rolled coil: On July 21, the average price of 4.75mm hot-rolled coils in 24 major cities across China was 3,308 yuan/ton, down 7 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Currently, pig iron supply has declined, and electric furnace production has also contracted, leading to a month-on-month decrease in total output. On the demand side, steel plate demand remains uneven, with overall resilience still lacking, but total inventory has shown some reduction.

Cold-rolled coil: On July 21, the average price of 1.0mm cold-rolled coils in 24 major cities across China was 3,797 yuan/ton, down 6 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. The decline in futures market prices dampened market sentiment, resulting in a subdued overall trading atmosphere. Speculative demand remained cautious, while end-users primarily focused on essential procurement. Overall, supply remained relatively stable, but weak demand continued to exert pressure on cold-rolled coil prices.

Medium-thick plate: On July 21, the average price of 20mm plain plate in 24 major cities across China was 3,497 yuan/ton, down 3 yuan/ton from the previous trading day. Market sentiment remains cautious, with traders showing weak willingness to adjust prices proactively. End-user procurement remains cautious, and transaction volumes are average. Medium-thick plate production lines previously scheduled for maintenance have yet to resume operations, keeping the operating rate stable. Capacity utilization has slightly declined from high levels, while spot market supply remains relatively ample, with no significant shortage of goods observed at the moment.
